We have seen the 2021 UK Budget but what does “Tax Day” have in store?
In his budget speech, the UK Chancellor introduced us to the truths of the ballooning UK Government Debt and the need to increase taxes to pay for it.
We already know that tax allowances and bands are to be frozen but what does this mean for you and your financial planning?
What other tax changes, already announced in previous budgets, will affect you from the coming tax year?
A bigger threat on the horizon – Tax Day?
On March 23, which has been dubbed “Tax Day”, HM Treasury announced a raft of new consultations on proposed taxation reforms.
In addition to the consultations, industry experts have suggested that reform to Capital Gains Tax, a solution to pensions tax relief issues and a further simplification of Inheritance Tax could all still be on the cards for later in the year.
It is impossible at this stage to do more than speculate on changes which may come however, what we can be fairly certain of is that when taxes are “reformed”, “simplified”, or “solutions found” it usually means that more tax will have to be paid.
At this key point in the development of the UK tax system it is more important than ever that if you are a UK national, have UK pensions, or own UK assets (properties or investments) you ensure that you know how you are affected and what steps can be taken to protect your wealth.
At this not to be missed webinar, Ian Black, AAM Director of Global Wealth Structuring, will be discussing the measures introduced in the budget, past measures coming into force in the coming tax year, the potential impact of both the consultations announced on 23rd March and potential future changes, what all of these mean to you and the steps you can take to protect yourself from ever rising taxation.
